Jenna’s business happens to be acting but I believe this a cardinal rule for any creative pursuit – including social media.

Say it with me: Consistency is KEY!

The more you do, the better you get, the more people you’re exposed to and who are exposed to your art, momentum builds (slowly, but steadily).

Consistency in social media is this crazy slow magic trick. You work at it and work at it and work at it, toiling in relative obscurity and then you wake up one day they are joining you in droves.

Yes, there is some skill involved. Consistently churning out stuff people don’t want isn’t going to work. But, if you grow and learn with your community, great things happen one day at a time.

I listened to @msjennafischer‘s book An Actor’s Life, not because I want to be an actor, but because @emilypfreeman quoted it once – saying it has great perspectives for all creatives – and boy was she right!!

The theme she kept coming back to over and over: Keep creating, keep trying, keep working. It doesn’t happen fast but it’s the smallest, seemingly inconsequential connection that could lead you to something really big.

“Eventually, my consistent body of work with Allison paid off. Five years after our first meeting, she remembered me when it was time to cast The Office and my career was changed forever. It didn’t matter that I hadn’t been cast in all the previous roles for which I auditioned because, in the end, I got the best role of all. I got Pam Beasley.”

Some people then sit back and wait for that big break, when the real secret is tailing it in hot pursuit, putting the work in, paving the way for that luck to happen.

Much luck to you šŸ€, Megan
