How To Save Your Reels Inspiration On Instagram

What's Happening

You’ve probably done it. We all have. You watch a fantastic Reel and keep scrolling. Then when you sit down to create, think about it and can’t find it again.

Enter: Instagram collections.

Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri highlighted a feature this week that is key to keeping post inspiration at my fingertips.

Use it for Your Business

You’re probably aware you can save posts to a Saved section. When you press the flag icon at the bottom right of each post, the post is saved in a general All Posts folder. You can access the Saved section by hitting the three lines at the top of your profile, then Saved.

All posts are automatically filed in one folder so that the fall sweater you want to buy is sitting next to a great budgeting tip you don’t want to forget, which is sitting next to a Reel you want to create.

To sort out this virtual junk drawer, use collections!

A collection is essentially a new folder. You can add a Collection by hitting the plus button in the saved folder or pressing and holding the flag button on an individual post.

If you saved posts in your All Posts folder you’d like to move to a Collection, click on Collection folder > three dots > Add to Collection. You’ll be taken to the All Post folder to select posts to add.

You can create collections for each of your post categories or different types of posts.

Some ideas for collections:

  • On Brand – design inspiration that aligns with your branding
  • [Insert Industry] Tips – tips and tricks you can use to inspire your own posts
  • Quotes – smart things others have said that your audience would love
  • Smart Strategy – posts that have a killer opening line, genius promotion, or smart CTA
  • Trending Reels – audio you want to use for your own Reels or a topic you want to cover

I’m a big fan of batch creation, so when I sit down to create posts for the week, I have inspiration waiting for me in my collections.

Relevancy Rating

Just because it's new doesn't mean it's worth your time: Is using Instagram collections worth your time?

Yes!: I give it 5 out of 5 thumbs up.

I’m a big fan of anything that keeps me organized and gives me fresh inspiration!
