Just Start
May 13, 2019Starting feels weird and awkward, especially on social media.
It’s like being the new kid in school. You’re not sure where your locker is or what you’re allowed to do and not do in this new school.
Should I include hashtags? How often should I post? Am I being annoying?
I totally understand why people don’t join. The learning curve seems too steep or the risk of embarrassment too high.
I’d like to encourage you today in the fact that social media is a great place to start.
When first joining a social platform, you don’t have many (if any) people following you. If you haven’t quite figured everything out, you’re only in front of a small audience. As that small audience grows, they’ll witness you grow, get better, and they’ll become your greatest champions.
And, though sometimes we can think everything is permanent online, let me assure you: most things are delete-able. If you decide later that you don’t want it out there. You can simply delete it.
If you’re well established on social media and thinking about starting a new project, creative endeavor or just testing out some new writing material. Social media is the BEST place to start!
Where else are you going to get immediate feedback and help shaping your project to what your customers ACTUALLY want versus what you THINK they want?
The risk is low, but the potential rewards are great.
What have you been putting off starting? Opening a new Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest account, beginning to write about your passion project on Instagram, or trying IGTV or posting Stories? I’d like to cheer you on!
