The big news announced this week via Instagram’s @creators account: Insights are coming for Reels!
Use it for Your Business
Let’s back up a few steps and make sure we’re all on the same page:
Firstly: Your Instagram account needs to be classified as a Creator or Business account to have access to Insights. If you’re not sure which account type is right for you, this 5-minute YouTube video is a must-watch.
Secondly: Insights are statistics beyond the likes, comments, and views you can see on your individual posts. Insights is Instagram’s in-app reporting feature that compares posts to one another and gives you more in-depth stats such as reach, when your followers are active, and website clicks.
Thirdly: Insights are a marketer’s best friend for determining how your account is doing. The number of followers does not determine the effectiveness of your account. Your reach, engagement rate, clicks to your website – to name just a few – are other indicators to keep an eye on. You want to make sure you are getting a return on the time investment you’re pouring into the platform week after week.
You can’t manage what you don’t measure.
And, until now, we weren’t able to measure the effectiveness of Reels. We will now actually know for a fact which Reels helped you to reach new accounts, how much of your engagement came from Reels and many other helpful metrics.
One thing to note: As with all Instagram new features, it takes a while for it to roll out to all users. I don’t have them yet so I’m gonna be checking and rechecking to make sure my app is up to date so I don’t miss it!
