Slow Your Scroll! āœ‹

I’m not just saying that so you’ll read my post. It’s one of my new favorite mantras for social media.

We want others to be stopped in their tracks by our posts, so maybe it would do some good to slow our scroll and take the time to appreciate the posts of others.

We know the feeling of getting a comment notification, the thrill of seeing that someone else took the time to engage with us. Why not return the favor?

I whole-heartedly believe that you reap what you sow and if you plant seeds of encouragement and kindness across the Internet, that’s exactly what you’ll get back.

And, don’t limit it to those you follow, go beyond to hashtags related to our industry or special interests. Find other people who are geeked about the things you’re geeked about. I assure you, they’re out there.

You’ll probably make a few more friends in the process.

I feel I should mention that many social media gurus suggest this tactic for growing your social media followers. Maybe you’ve heard you’re supposed to find top influencers, and like/comment on their stuff in hopes that they’ll follow you.

It’s definitely a tactic that could work for you, but I prefer to make the goal sowing seeds of encouragement. Otherwise, I focus on who starts following me versus being a good digital citizen.

I’ll take making someone’s day over a new follower – any day! šŸ˜‰
