TikTok Now Is Trying to BeRealSep 19, 2022
TikTok is jumping on the copycat train with TikTok Now.
TikTok is no longer the new kid on the block with the popularity of BeReal rising. I covered the impact of this new social network here.
Instagram was the first to steal BeReal’s thunder by adding a dual camera feature to its platform and now TikTok is following suit.
I will say TikTok’s version sounds way more fun and is much closer to the BeReal model. You will get a notification to “Post Today’s Now.” And, you’ll be able to share a 10-second video or photo to your Now feed.
The point of Now posts is to show an authentic snapshot of what you’re doing in the moment. As far as I can tell, you will be able to reshoot the Now, but won’t be given any filters, titles or editing capabilities.
The feature is rolling out to users over the next few weeks. You’ll know if it’s been added to your account because you’ll have a new tab on the bottom navigation bar that looks like a lightning bolt. There you’ll be able to scroll other people’s Now posts.
Like BeReal, you’ll be able to post “late” (after the notification window has ended) and you won’t be able to view anything on your Now feed until you post your own Now for the day.
Use it for Your Business
I don’t recommend joining BeReal for marketing purposes because there is literally no way to link to your business, and I don’t see it being worth your time. However, TikTok Now is a horse of a different color!
If you’re already promoting your business on TikTok, using TikTok Now is a great way to promote the know, like and trust factor with your potential and current customers or clients.
Will you be sitting at your computer typing 9 times out of 10? Probably.
Will the notification come immediately after you do something interesting each day? Definitely.
Will your customers get a daily reminder that you exist and you’re working hard to serve them? Absolutely!
Just because it's new doesn't mean it's worth your time: Is using TikTok Now worth your time?
Sure: I give it 4 out of 5 thumbs up.
If you’re already using TikTok, give it a try!
