Votes

People cast their votes on your social media posts every day. They like, comment and share posts that affect them in some way.

Instagram uses those votes to determine how many and which people see your post the next time you post something.

We don’t have control over the algorithm or what Instagram decides to show how many people, but we DO have control over what we post.

We can use those same votes and, just like in an election, make changes to what we provide based upon what the people want.

Can you imagine an election where a bond issue was voted down but they spent the money anyway?! People would be furious! They would be up in arms, threatening to move or take action.

You know what they do on social media if you don’t act upon their votes?

UNFOLLOW.

Yet, many of us keep posting the same kinds of things and get frustrated when we don’t see any growth or, even worse, people unfollow us.

Pay attention. Look at your Insights and figure out what’s working and what’s not.

Give the people what they want!
